This Air Fryer Balsamic Brussels Sprouts recipe is perfect when you're cooking sprouts for a festive dinner. The balsamic vinegar adds a bright, zesty tang, while the air fryer helps the sprouts turn perfectly golden on the outside and stay beautifully tender within. They’re wholesome, vibrant, and a delicious way to bring a little extra something to your table.

Brussels sprouts are a must on my Christmas table. I’ll even enjoy them plain - just boiled with a bit of salt and pepper. But when you give them a little extra attention? They turn into something seriously special.

There are so many ways to make the humble sprout more interesting (good news if you're trying to tempt Brussels sprouts avoiders to tuck in). I've tried them with Parmesan cheese and with flaked almonds, but this Balsamic Brussels Sprouts recipe is my current favorite!

Let the Air Fryer do the Hard Work

Cooking Brussels sprouts in the air fryer is such a clever trick. They develop a deep, roasty flavour with lovely crisp edges and a tender centre. This method also frees up precious hob space - perfect when you’re preparing a big roast. Best of all - there’s no risk of a soggy sprout when you air fry.

How to Make Balsamic Brussels Sprouts in an Air Fryer

These air fryer Balsamic Brussels Sprouts are so easy to make. All you need to do is chop your sprouts in half, then give them a good coating of oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper. Pop them in the air fryer for 10-15 minutes at 350°F / 180°C, shaking halfway through the cooking time. Then serve up and watch everyone dive in.

Brussels Sprouts - I made this recipe using fresh sprouts from the grocery store. They don't take much preparing - just peel away any tough or brown outer leaves and give them a good wash, drain well and pat dry using a kitchen towel.

Balsamic Vinegar - I always have a bottle of balsamic in the pantry. It makes a great addition to so many dishes from vegetable sides like this to pasta sauces and more.

Olive Oil - I use standard olive oil (not extra virgin) for roasting in the air fryer. You can use whatever oil you prefer - avocado oil, vegetable oil or sunflower oil would all work well. Find out more about which oils to use in an air fryer.

Salt & Pepper - Essential for seasoning.

Wash and dry your sprouts and peel away any tough outer layers if necessary. Then chop each one in half.

Coat the cut sprouts with the oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper and toss to combine all the flavors.

Place the sprouts in an even layer in your air fryer basket. Air fry for 10-15 minutes at 350°F / 180°C, shaking halfway through the cooking time.

Check the sprouts are tender all the way through, then serve and let everyone dig in.

What Vegetables to Serve for a Christmas or Thanksgiving Dinner?

These sprouts with balsamic vinegar are perfect for family roasts or festive dinners. I love to serve them alongside other air fryer vegetables like roasted carrots, roasted parsnips or green beans. Add a potato side like air fryer roast potatoes or sliced potatoes and that's your veggies sorted!

Do I need to peel the sprouts before cooking?

If your sprouts have tough outer leaves, you can remove these before cooking. Sometimes the grocery store will already have done this for you.

    Can I use frozen sprouts

Yes you can! Just add an extra 10 minutes to the cooking time to ensure they cook all the way through.

Do I need to cut a cross in the stem of the sprout

No! Some people used to think that cutting a cross in the stem of the sprout would help them cook more quickly. But this isn't necessary.
