How to Reheat Croissants in the Air Fryer

    Published: Aug 23, 2024 · Modified: Apr 6, 2025 by Jenny · 2 Comments

There’s nothing quite like biting into a warm, flaky croissant—crispy on the outside, soft and buttery on the inside. Whether you’ve got leftover croissants from a weekend brunch or picked up some ready-made ones from your favourite bakery, reheating them the right way can make all the difference. The good news? Your air fryer is the perfect tool to bring them back to life, restoring that freshly baked taste and texture in just a few minutes.

Two croissants on a board with a cup of black coffee and jug of cream in the background.

Why Reheat Croissants in an Air Fryer?

While there are a few methods to reheat croissants, the air fryer stands out as a top choice. Unlike microwaving, which can make croissants soggy, or using the oven, which can take too long, the air fryer heats them quickly and evenly, preserving that delightful crispiness on the outside while keeping the inside tender and warm. It’s the closest thing to enjoying a croissant fresh from the bakery without leaving your kitchen.

Step-by-Step Guide to Reheating Croissants in the Air Fryer

Step 1: Preheat the Air Fryer Start by preheating your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Preheating ensures that your croissants start reheating immediately, helping to achieve that perfect texture.

Step 2: Prepare the Croissants Place your croissants in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Be sure to give them some space so that the hot air can circulate around each one, ensuring even reheating. If you’re reheating multiple croissants, you may need to do this in batches to avoid overcrowding.

Step 3: Reheat the Croissants Air fry the croissants for 3-5 minutes at 350°F (175°C), checking them half way through the time. The exact time will depend on the size and thickness of your croissants. You’ll know they’re ready when they’re golden and crisp on the outside and warm all the way through.

Step 4: Enjoy Immediately Once reheated, carefully remove the croissants from the air fryer using tongs or a spatula. Croissants are best enjoyed warm, so dig in right away to savour the flakiness and buttery goodness.

    Tips for the Best Results:

    • Don’t Overcrowd: Just like with other air fryer recipes, it’s important not to overcrowd the basket. This ensures that each croissant reheats evenly, with a perfect balance of crispness and warmth.
    • Watch the Time: Croissants can go from perfectly warm to overcooked quickly, so keep a close eye on them, especially if they’re smaller or already quite brown.
    • Add a Little Extra Flavour: For a special treat, slice open the croissant (or pull apart with your fingers) then add a little chocolate spread or fruit jam. You can also sprinkle them with a touch of sugar or cinnamon for a sweet twist.

Why You’ll Love Reheating Croissants in the Air Fryer:

Reheating croissants in the air fryer is all about convenience and quality. It’s a quick method that delivers the same satisfying crunch and soft, buttery layers that you love in a freshly baked croissant. Whether you’re enjoying them as part of a leisurely breakfast, a quick snack, or even a dessert, the air fryer makes it easy to bring out the best in every bite.

So next time you find yourself with leftover croissants—or you just want to elevate those store-bought ones—turn to your air fryer. In just a few minutes, you’ll be treated to a bakery-quality croissant that’s warm, flaky, and utterly irresistible.

When I reheat croissants in the air fryer I always wipe my wet hands over them before placing them in the preheated air fryer. Is this a waste of time?

I don't use wet hands and still get great results. However, if your croissants are quite dry, it might be a useful way to add a little fluffiness back into them as they cook. So it's not a waste of time if you find that it gives you good results 🙂
